EnVyUs move on to the ESL ESEA Pro League quarter-finals by defeating Luminosity 16-7 on de_dust2, meaning Luminosity are the first to leave the tournament in the process. Luminosity, who earlier lost to Virtus.pro in a fairly uneventful tournament opener, went up against EnVyUs, who lost to Cloud9 in an upset and who are also known as tournament slow-starters, in the first elimination best-of-one match of the tournament. With Luminosity starting on T-side of de_dust2, the map most volatile in terms of its puggy nature, the game got off to a fairly close start. On the 10th round, Swedish pickup Jacob "pyth" Mourujärvi won a one-versus-two with 1HP left to keep Luminosity's chances in the game alive.
EnVyUs, led by the fragging of team leader Vincent "Happy" Schopenhauer, powered forward to a stronger CT-side by the end of the half however, closing the half off 9-6 in their favour. A close pistol round which came down to the wire went to EnVyUs and helped give the French team the edge in the second half. Luminosity refused to cave-in however and won the force-buy round with pistols, armour, and a Scout. nV answered tit-for-tat with a P250 mid-rush, courtesy of Richard "shox" Papillon which gave EnVyUs the round lead again. EnVyUs nearly lost the 20th round of the game but ended up patiently holding B-site which confused Luminosity and forced them to overpush. With the score at 14-8, a two-versus-two went for nV and gave them match point. The Swedish-American-Canadian team fell in the next round, losing 8-16 and leaving the tournament with $7,500 and a 7-8th place finish. ESL ESEA Pro League Season 1 FinalsBest of 1
